Take a leisurely walk through Eidfjord, a compact community overlooking Hardangerfjord, the second-longest fjord in Norway. It is an idyllic setting as Eidfjord rests in a valley at the water's edge flanked by mountain plateaus. Regardless of where you wander, the majestic mountains will always be in sight as a reminder of the overwhelming natural beauty in this part of Norway. The ambiance is that of a traditional small town as Eidfjord only has about 1,000 residents. While walking about, you will pass traditional wooden houses and churches and see a variety of family-run shops such as the Trebua woodshop. While stopping there, you will see hand-crafted fiddles, birch jewel boxes and other exquisite artisan merchandise. Afterwards, you will pause at a quaint bakery for coffee and cake. On the walk back to the harbor, you will have a picture-perfect view of your ship in Hardangerfjord-also known as the Queen of Fjords-with the mountains as a backdrop.
