Relax on the beach at Big French Key, a lush private island lying in the shadow of Roatan, where you will be free to enjoy the tranquility and beautiful blue waters.
After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a picturesque drive across slender Roatan to French Key dock. You will see idyllic Little French Key and Big French Key beckoning just offshore. A short ride across the turquoise waters in a motorboat takes you to the larger of the private islands, where you will spend several immensely relaxing hours at the beach.
Big French Key hasn't changed enormously since Christopher Columbus explored the surrounding Bay Islands in 1503 and described them as "incredibly green and fertile." While a few buildings are scattered about Big French Key, the nearly 12-acre island remains a lush, beach-rimmed paradise caressed by gentle trade winds.
Upon arrival, you will be treated to a welcome refreshment and be able to go pick out your complimentary beach chair. Life here revolves around the sea, and you are free to enjoy it in whatever way you wish. You might take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear water, stroll down the beach as the waves gently lap the shore, or do nothing more ambitious than sunbathing in a beach chair.
Included in your program is your choice of an optional 40 minute guided snorkeling experience (equipment is included), or a 15 minute boat tour. Kayaks are also available at no charge for those who would like to paddle around the Bay. For families with children, there is also a babysitter available.
For the less adventurous, palm trees and other tropical foliage provide plenty of shade where you can relax on a lounge chair and read, or listen to island music from the outdoor bar. When hunger strikes, there is also a restaurant, where you may linger over a complimentary lunch buffet that includes ice tea and water. Or you may redeem your 2 drink vouchers for soft drinks, beer or other alcoholic beverages.
After a few hours spent enjoying all Big French Key has to offer, you will retrace your route back to the pier.
