Visit two of Beppu’s many hot springs known as jigokus and a forested park that countless wild monkeys inhabit. With more than 2,500 thermal springs in and around Beppu, thick clouds of steam can always be seen rising from the ground. At the Umi Jigoku, the so called Sea Hell, you will notice that the cobalt-blue water is near boiling and so hot that visitors only observe the thermal phenomenon. However, at the Chinoike Jigoku or Blood Pond Hell, you might take a foot bath in the iron oxide-rich water that gives the pool its reddish color. The hot springs throughout Beppu are said to have restorative powers, and visitors come from all over to soak in them. The Takasakiyama Monkey Park is also wildly popular, as it offers a rare close-up look at macaques freely roaming the forested mountain slopes. You too will be free to wander about while observing these Old World monkeys.
Note: : This tour includes approximately 2.5 hours of walking on mostly paved paths with a few steps. At Mt. Takasaki Monkey Park participants must be able to walk for 10 minutes each way up/down a slope. This tour is not available to guests who utilize a wheelchair. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Casual, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable, flat walking shoes are suggested. Bring a towel if you would like to try a foot spa at Umi Jigoku and Chinoike Jigoku. Wildlife sightings at Mt. Takasaki Monkey Park are not guaranteed. less

Visit several of Old Town’s most iconic sites, which gained even greater fame after serving as locations for the fictional capital King’s Landing in “Game of Thrones.”
After departing from the pier, you will soon arrive in the oldest section of Dubrovnik, a revered UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fans of the TV series “Game of Thrones,” which is based on George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novels, will recognize this part of Dubrovnik as King’s Landing, the fictional capital of the Seven Kingdoms.
Your first stop will be imposing Lovrijenac Fortress, located just outside the medieval walls that encircle Old Town. Known as Dubrovnik’s Gibraltar, the 11th-century fortress perches atop a craggy rock overlooking the sea, which represented Blackwater Bay in the books.
Continuing on, you will enter Old Town and make your way to the defensive walls to the south. After climbing the steps, you will walk along the stone battlements, which afford extraordinary views of the sea and the inner city. These walls appeared in numerous scenes in “Game of Thrones”; they were particularly prominent in the Battle of Blackwater Bay.
Later, you will enjoy free time within Old Town, where you may explore other sites that you may recognize from the series. For instance, the Jesuit Staircase was where Cersei Lannister began her Walk of Shame in Season Five, and many of the show’s market scenes were filmed along St. Dominic Street. Following free time, you will return to the pier.
Note: This tour involves approximately two hours of compulsory walking and is therefore unsuitable for passengers with limited mobility. Lots of steps will be encountered at each of the venues visited. Passengers will have approximately 60 minutes of free time, where walking is at the discretion of the individual. Order of sites may vary. We recommend that you dress in layers, wear comfortable shoes, hat, sunglasses and bring bottled water. Minimum age to participate in this tour is 8. less

... moreEnjoy a leisurely bike ride through downtown Gisborne and along a relatively flat cycling trail, passing the city’s key monuments, historical sites and most distinctive architecture.
After departing from the pier on a bicycle, you will head toward the long stretch of beach that hugs Poverty Bay on the south side of Gisborne or “Gizzy,” as it is affectionately known. Along the way, you will pause as your guide elaborates on the city’s history with particular attention paid to the Maori settlers and the Europeans that followed.
In the mid-14th century, the migratory Maori first landed in this area, and English explorer Captain James Cook arrived later in 1769. There is a monument commemorating the initial meeting between Cook and the Maori overlooking Poverty Bay.
Depending on your route around Gisborne, you may pass the extraordinary clock tower of the 1930s post office, the Tairawhiti Museum that is devoted to Maori artifacts and 19th-century photography, and the Taruhero River that gently flows through the city. You might also notice a number of “First to See the Light” signs that refer to Gisborne being New Zealand’s easternmost city and the world’s first to greet the rising sun each new day.
The tour isn’t all cycling though, as you will stop for a time to enjoy morning tea at a lovely Art Deco café. After approximately two and one half hours, the tour will end back at the pier.
Note: The cycling is on flat terrrain on cruiser, low step touring cycles and is suitable for all age groups. Total cycling covers approximately 6.5 miles over a period of approximately 2 1/2 hours. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility issues. Participants should be in good physical condition. Weather appropriate casual clothing; sun cap; sunglasses, sunscreen; and a bottle of water from the ship are recommended. Flat, closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Walk through a virginal forest in the Lokobe Natural Reserve, where you may see colorful birds and endemic species such as black lemurs, before relaxing on the reserve’s beach.
After disembarking from the ship, you will board a small boat at the pier for a short cruise across the bay to the Lokobe Natural Reserve. Densely forested, the reserve protects most of the island’s endemic vegetation and several species of animals, such as the black lemur.
As you walk through the reserve, you may spot one of these curious-looking creatures, which are primitive relatives to monkeys and apes. The males are completely black, and the females are rust-colored and sport long white tufts of hair on their ears. Because lemurs are social animals, if you see one, chances are you will see a half-dozen nearby.
You may also catch sight Madagascar pygmy kingfishers, Madagascar long-eared owls, snakes, leaf-tailed geckos and boldly colored panther chameleons. If you are fortunate enough to watch the chameleon catch an insect, it will be a spectacular show. The reptile’s tongue (which can be longer than its body) will quickly uncurl, shoot forward and grab the prey with a suction cup on the tip of its club-like tongue. All in as little as .07 seconds.
Following your guided walk through the forest, you will spend an hour or so relaxing at the beach and watching women from the Sakalava ethnic group perform a traditional folk dance. A light snack and beverages will be provided. Afterwards, you will return to the pier by boat.
Note: This tour includes approximately 90-minutes of guided walking, plus any additional walking at the guests’ discretion during free time at the beach. There will be natural and possibly muddy, uneven surfaces to negotiate, including sand. Participants must be able to enter and exit the boat with limited assistance. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and may not be suitable for those with mobility concerns who are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Light-weight clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; insect repellant and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Those who wish to swim at the beach should wear a swim suit under their clothes (there are no changing facilities and no restrooms) and bring a towel from the ship. To avoid dehydration, guests should also bring water from the ship. Those who take part in any water activities do so at their own risk and responsibility. less

Explore two filming locations for “Game of Thrones” where pivotal scenes were shot depicting the Meereen slave rebellion and the dungeon that held fire-breathing dragons.
After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a scenic drive inland to Klis, an ancient village strategically located in a mountain pass. The village is dominated by a fortress that sits atop a jagged crag with views of the sea on one side and mountains on the other.
It is a spectacular setting, especially for fans of the TV series “Game of Thrones,” which is based on George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novels. In the show, the fortress served as the location for the city of Meereen. Here, Daenerys Targaryen (the Mother of Dragons) freed the slaves in Season Four.
In real life, the fortress, whose history dates to the 7th century, has been occupied by numerous Croatian rulers. Despite its seemingly impenetrable appearance, the fortress has been overtaken repeatedly, by the likes of the Ottomans, Venetians and Austrians.
After an enlightening exploration of the fortress, you will return to Split to visit its extraordinary Diocletian Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built at the turn of the 4th century for Roman emperor Diocletian’s retirement, the palace is a sprawling complex of temples, cathedrals and residences facing the sea.
Several scenes for “Game of Thrones” were shot here, most notably the ones where Daenerys’ dragons are chained in the dungeon. After visiting, you will return to the pier.
Note: This tour involves approximately one hour of walking. There are around 115 steps on this tour. This tour is not recommended for passengers who utilize wheelchairs or guests with limited mobility. Toilet facilities are available at local cafés. Tour ends with a walking portion in Split and passengers wishing to remain in town at the end of this tour may do so, however it is their own responsibility to return to the ship in time for sailing. Order of sites visited may vary. Minimum age to participate in this tour is 8. less

Hike to Gibralfaro Castle atop a lofty hill overlooking Malago and then enjoy free time in the city after passing landmarks such as Pablo Picasso’s birthplace.
Your hike will start from the pier, and As you follow the vibrant promenade, you will pass La Malagueta, a 16-sided polygon bullring built in 1874. Spain’s legendary bullfighters have all performed here to crowds of more than 10,000. Before long, you will start the ascent to Gibralfaro Castle, taking in one spectacular view after another on the way to the summit. Constructed in the 10th century where a lighthouse once stood, the castle rises majestically out of a forest of pines and eucalyptus trees. The name Gibralfaro translates to “rock of the lighthouse,” and it is undeniably solid as a rock. One of the longest sieges in the re-conquest of Spain occurred here 1487, when King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella’s forces took three months to defeat the Moors. By walking near the ramparts and gazing down on the steep terrain, you can appreciate how difficult it would have been to conquer the castle. You will be presented with sweeping urban views from a different perspective on the descent. Upon reaching Malaga, you will pass the birthplace of Pablo Picasso and the Cathedral, a National Landmark that took 200 years to build. Free time follows.
Note: This tour includes approximately 3.5 hours of hiking. It is not recommended for guests who utilize a wheelchair. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Casual, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable, flat walking shoes are suggested.
