Las Terrazas and It's Nature

DETALLES

Enjoy the serenity and easy pace of Las Terrazas, an environmentally conscious small town where most of the activities revolve around nature.

After departing from the pier, you will settle in for a picturesque drive inland to Las Terrazas, a small community located in the Sierra del Rosario mountains, which is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Nature is the primary attraction here, as the surrounding land is fiercely protected from any development that might compromise the environment.

Although the French established coffee plantations in the area in the 1700s, they were abandoned long ago. Today, Las Terrazas nestles in dense foliage teeming with wildlife. Nearly half the bird species endemic to Cuba make their home here.

As you meander around the eco-friendly town, you will probably see artists in their workshops and encounter hikers on their way to and from the many trails surrounding Las Terrazas. The ambiance will be remarkably laid-back wherever you wander.

In time, you will browse the Polo Montañez Museum, which is located in the late country singer’s former home. Inside, you will find his musical awards and photos depicting Montañez’s rise from farm worker to international singing sensation.

Afterwards, you will drop by the Café de Maria for a cup of coffee, followed by lunch at the Cafetel Buena Vista restaurant. Later, at the nearby San Juan River, you will be free to swim in the gently flowing waters or simply relax in the shade and gaze over the tropical landscape.
