Valencia is vibrant city rich in culture and traditions and you’ll be introduced to them during this tour of the city. Much has been written about the fun-loving character of Valencians and their fiesta par excellence – The Fallas. Most don’t do justice to all the colors, lights, sounds, people, sensations and laughter of this tribute to the renewal of life. Every spring, flames consume months of work in one single magical hour. Dreams and frustrations of the past year all disappear, giving way to new beginnings. At the Fallero Museum, you learn everything about this tradition and its origins. You’ll delight at the “Ninots Indultats”, or paper mache figures saved from the fire by popular vote.

Experience the local market scene, a snapshot of Valencian daily life, when you visit the Mercado Central. It’s one of the oldest running food markets in Europe, although the current building was constructed in the early 20th century. Iron, wood, ceramics and polychrome tiles enhance the beauty of this pre-Modernist style building. A stop at the famous Horchateria Santa Catalina introduces you to the traditional and popular drink which originated in Valencia, horchata or orxata. This refreshing drink can be purchased prepackaged, but it tastes nothing like the artisanal version you’ll sample here. A panoramic drive through the city’s highlights completes your experience.
