OVERVIEW

It was established as a British base of operations between Nova Scotia and the West Indies after the English were defeated in the American Revolution, and it was used militarily until abandoned in the 1980s. Bermuda’s first settlers were British – although they arrived inadvertently after being shipwrecked in 1609 – and the self-governing archipelago still follows a parliamentary system based on the United Kingdom’s. Heydon Chapel is perhaps the earliest reminder of England’s presence as it was built in 1620. After departing from the pier in an open-air train trolley, you will soon arrive in the heart of the Royal Naval Dockyard. Known as the “Gibraltar of the West,” the dockyard played a vital role in War of 1812 and both World Wars. As you ride the trolley through the streets, the conductor will entertain you with colorful anecdotes and fascinating facts about the history and architecture of the dockyard. Along the way, you will pass the Royal Navy Cemetery, which dates back to 1812. Other points of interest include Lagoon Park, whose mangroves support a thriving population of birds, and Somerset Village, a residential area on Somerset Island that was settled centuries ago.

The tour ends back at the pier. However, as an alternative, the conductor will drop you at Clock Tower Mall to browse the shops and then you may return to the pier later on your own.

Maximize your time in Bermuda on this great combination tour! First, enjoy sightseeing the rural west end of the island during your short shuttle ride to Somerset Island. Here you'll be provided a Mountain Bike and equipped with a durable bike helmet. After receiving instruction on riding and safety, you'll begin your guided cycle tour along the original Bermuda Railway Trail. During your bike ride, your guide will stop at various points of interest along the mostly flat trail and provide informative commentary along the way. You'll also enjoy spectacular scenery along the trail, and time permitting you'll have the opportunity to hike up to the historic Fort Scaur and view the sprawling 17th century Mott Family estate. After your ride, cool off with a refreshing swim at a private, calm water beach.

Join this tour and travel across the island into Bermuda’s one and only Tom Moore’s Jungle, filled with caves to explore and swimming adventures to take part in. Majestic scenery awaits you as you enter this lush reserve filled with colorful native birds. Enjoy approximately 2 hours in the jungle which includes swimming in a wet cave, the option to cliff jump, hike and explore a dry cave. Next, you’ll be treated to lunch at a local restaurant where you can enjoy a complimentary scoop of ice cream before heading to Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve where you’ll have the chance to put your toes in the “Bermudaful” sand. This is one of the island’s premier snorkeling locations and you’ll be given the opportunity to snorkel with tropical fish, see coral reefs or just relax on the beach.

Tucked away in Bermuda’s East End lies an unspoiled hidden paradise of pristine beaches. The Clearwater Beach Triangle will take you away from the beaten bath and crowded beaches to a series of 6 interconnecting utopic beaches, while still offering all of the great facilities and amenities to make a perfect beach day. A representative will greet you on the pier outside of your ship and direct you to Norwegian’s direct tender to St. George’s. Once you arrive in St. George’s, you will be greeted by a charismatic and knowledgeable local guide and escorted onto comfortable mini buses. From there, you will be treated to a guided sightseeing tour on the way to Clearwater Beach in St. David's. When you arrive at Clearwater beach, this will be your base and you will be given an orientation on the facilities of Clearwater, as well as the locations of the 5 other walkable beaches in the area. You will be shown to your special beach section and provided with a sun lounger and shared umbrella. When you are ready, head to the beach restaurant for a local lunch. At your leisure, swim, have lunch or explore the many beaches, and take advantage of the modern facilities available to you. At the end of your beach time, you will be transported back to St. George's before taking the tender right back to your ship.

From the comfort of the an open-air trolley train, you will enjoy unobstructed views of highlights such as Fort Catherine – which was built in 1614 overlooking the spot where the first English settlers arrived – and the gothic-style Unfinished Church, which some locals consider to be cursed because its construction suffered so many setbacks that it was never completed. Bermuda’s natural beauty will be on display as you pass Tobacco Bay Beach, a gorgeous sliver of sand sheltered by a natural breakwater of large boulders.

A stop in the heart of the Ol Towne of St. George's allows for a visit to the oldest Anglican Church of the Western Hemisphere, St. Peter’s Church.

On adjacent St. David’s Island, once known as the US Air Force Base lands, you’ll discover the charm of this unique and enchanting community as you enjoy the imposing views of the Atlantic Ocean from St. David's Lighthouse.

OVERVIEW

Delve into the history of Boston, especially around the time of the American Revolutionary War, and enjoy the ultimate view of the city from a 52-story-high observation deck. OVERVIEW

Learn about the mysterious Bermuda Triangle – where dozens of ships and airplanes have supposedly vanished without explanation – and browse a museum that sheds some light on those enigmas. Bermuda is the northern tip of the triangle, whose other points are Miami and Puerto Rico, and the waters in between are legendary for their unnatural occurrences. You will gaze out over the sea from Fort Scaur, a late 19th-century fortress that offers an extraordinary 360° view of Bermuda. The Unlock the Secrets exhibit at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute may unravel some of the most puzzling aspects of the Bermuda Triangle. Another exhibit will allow you to investigate some of the triangle’s strange phenomena on a simulated dive to an airplane graveyard at the bottom of the sea. A driving tour through Hamilton will reveal the official northern point of the Bermuda Triangle, after which you will pause for photos of one of the island’s most beautiful pink beaches.

OVERVIEW

View the absolute icons of New York from a water perspective while cruising the Hudson River and up close while driving through the heart of Manhattan. The Big Apple’s skyline will look especially dramatic from the boat as you will see One World Trade Center – the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere – looming in the background. Once you pass Lower Manhattan, you will cruise past Ellis Island and on to the Statue of Liberty, where the boat will pause long enough for you to take close-up photos of this inspiring beacon of freedom and hope. The bus will follow a route that also presents one landmark after another, including Times Square, the Empire State Building and Central Park, the urban oasis that famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted co-designed in 1858. You will hear insightful commentary throughout the tour and all the way to the airport.

OVERVIEW

Observe the wonders underwater through the transparent bottom of your kayak while paddling through the sheltered waters off Ely’s Harbour in the West End. After a brief orientation to ensure that you maximize the experience, you will ease into a two-person kayak and paddle off into the harbor’s typically calm and clear waters. You will glide past shores lined with environmentally friendly mangroves, pause to admire the dramatically eroded cliff known Cathedral Rock and gaze out over Wreck Hill, where the Sea Venture supposedly wrecked in 1609 stranding its English crew and passengers. You may also paddle around the beach-rimmed islands that dot the natural harbor and stop to swim. Even so, the most unusual part of this adventure is watching the marine life through the kayak’s clear bottom. You may see brightly colored blue angelfish, striped sergeant majors, princess parrotfish and spotted eagle rays, all of which are native to Bermuda.
