Normally when you book a shore excursion prior to sailing you will use the NCL website, and you will be asked for a bank card to pay for the tour at the time of booking. As an alternative, however, you can phone the NCL Shore Excursions Department and book your tour with an Excursions Agent. It is likely that they also will ask you for a credit card, but you can request that the reservation be held without payment until you board your cruise. You then can check with the Shore Excursions Desk on board the ship and make your payment arrangements, including applying on board credit. We currently are sailing on the Escape, and spoke with several fellow passengers who paid for their shore excursions this way.

Are there clothes irons in the rooms on the Jewel?

No. Due to fire hazard issues, the staterooms do not have clothes iron and you are not allowed to bring irons on board the ship. However, you can request the Guest Services Desk or the cabin stewards they will be happy to bring you an iron and ironing board for a few hours.

Are Dining Areas Open on Disembarkation Day?

Sorry, I misread your question. On the morning of disembarkation the buffet and one of the main dining rooms will be open for breakfast. The menu may be somewhat limited, without omelettes or Eggs Benedict, and the restaurants may close earlier than normal, but breakfast is available on the last day of your cruise.

The balcony dividers are fire proof doors and to prevent the spread of fire, the doors are locked when the ship is sailing.

Trying to locate precise fitness offerings for the Jewel.

Usually they have some sort of classes like aerobics, Pilates, Zumba, yoga etc. There is no way to say before the cruise what types of classes will be offered during the cruise.

All stateroom have a phone. You can use it to call other staterooms and also ship board services like housekeeping, restaurants, etc. You can use it to call land based phone numbers but you will get charged for those calls.

None of the special dietary situations include gluten free. I have celiac disease and must avoid gluten. Can that be accommodated?

NCL offers the following meal options at the time of reservation - Salt Free Diet, Sugar Free Diet, Low Cholesterol Meals, Vegetarian Meals, Kosher Meals. You can always call NCL and add them to your reservation. If you have any other special dietary requirements contact NCL about a month in advance and inform them about the dietary requirements. Follow up with NCL a week before the cruise as a reminder. Once on board, contact the restaurant manager to ensure that they are aware of it.

BUTLER AND CONCIERGE SERVICES

The link for this information does not seem to be working. Can anyone tell me where I can find this information? I have seen reviews that indicate that, because we are in an owner's suite on the 9th deck, that I will not be well served.
