Buzzing Around In Dubrovnik

OVERVIEW

See the historical side of Dubrovnik while riding in a vintage automobile to Old Town, where you will indulge in tastings that reflect the local Dalmatian cuisine and wines. Although you will see several landmarks on the drive to the fortified Old Town, once you walk through the 16th-century Pile Gate, the ambiance will become decidedly medieval. After an introductory tasting of two wines at a classic wine shop, you will stroll over to Mama’s Pot Tavern to sample wines that pair with dishes such as black risotto, bruschetta with octopus and tagliatelle with seafood. Other distinctive wines will be served at Škar Winery, especially ones that complement Dalmatian prosciutto, a cured ham whose only additive is sea salt. One last drink – a delightful glass of prosecco – and a slice of fresh-baked cake awaits at Port 22, an atmospheric bistro that overlooks the old port. The island just offshore is Lokrum.
