OVERVIEW

This tour is intended for guests who have limited mobility, rely on a cane or walker, or for guests’ companions.

This four-hour guided tour offers an immersive introduction to Valletta, Malta’s vibrant capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Carefully designed for accessibility, the tour combines a scenic coach drive with a relaxed walking itinerary, minimizing steep gradients and long distances. Guests will enjoy panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and Manoel Island from the Great Siege Road, gaining insight into Valletta’s strategic importance during the Great Siege and its rich history as a fortified city of the Knights of St John. The tour includes a visit to The Malta Experience, featuring a 15-minute audiovisual presentation that brings Malta’s dramatic history to life, followed by free time for photos, souvenirs, and refreshments. The walking portion of the tour focuses on Valletta’s architectural and cultural gems, culminating in a guided visit to St John’s Co-Cathedral, one of Europe’s finest Baroque churches and home to masterpieces by Caravaggio. Although the outside of St. John’s Co-Cathedral is rather severe, the interior is unexpectedly sumptuous. You can’t help but be awed by the intricately carved limestone walls, painted vaulted ceiling and altars that depict watershed events in the life of St. John. The experience concludes at Triton Fountain, a perfect spot for photos before returning to the cruise port.

Note: This tour has a limited capacity, and the availability of accessible vehicles is extremely limited. It is recommended that guests make their reservations for accessible shore excursions as early as feasible. At the time of reservation, guests who intend to use a wheelchair (electric or manual) on this excursion must submit the complete dimensions (height, length, and width) and weight of the electric scooter or wheelchair. This tour is designed to utilize the most wheelchair-friendly routes, which include shorter distances, step-free routes, and the absence of a staircase. Accessible restrooms equipped with wide doors for wheelchair access are located along the tour route. The vehicle used on this excursion is equipped with an access ramp (or lift where available) to accommodate a limited number of wheelchairs and/or mobility scooters. Guides are prohibited from assisting with wheelchairs. Guests who require special assistance must be accompanied by a companion who is physically capable. Lunch and snacks are excluded.
