Picton Waterfront Walk

Walk along Picton’s waterfront and a strategic lookout, taking in the natural beauty of Picton while your guide points out the city’s architectural landmarks and details its intriguing history.

Set off on foot along the waterfront with your local guide who will share with you the stories of Picton and the Marlborough Sounds, local flora and fauna, as you walk. The marina highlights how life here revolves around the sea. Continuing on across the pedestrian walkway Coathanger Bridge, you will ascend to a lookout that offers spectacular views of Picton and out into Queen Charlotte Sound. The sounds are so extensive that they contain one-fifth of the coastline in New Zealand.

From here you will make your way back to the waterfront where your tour ends right next to the craft market. Perched on the site of a former Maori village, Picton has fiercely protected its natural beauty, which has inspired a flourishing artistic community. Their work can be found on display here at the craft market.

Before setting off to further explore Picton on your own, or returning to the ship, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary coffee, tea or a uniquely New Zealand treat - a hokey pokey ice cream. This delicious treat is a comprised of a scoop of vanilla ice cream with lumps of honeycomb toffee.
