Get a glimpse of what Dutch life was like back in the 1700’s and enjoy a narrated tour of picturesque Amsterdam. Travel from Rotterdam to the village of Zaandam where your guide will lead you through the recreated town of Zaanse Schans. Carefully designed to replicate the Zaan community of around 1700, this “open air” museum is a popular attraction. As you stroll through the cobbled streets watching craftsmen practicing the trades of yesterday, you’ll get a glimpse of what Dutch life was once like. During free time, you’ll have the opportunity to witness the Dutch art of clog-making at a wooden shoe factory and visit a cheese farm that demonstrates the art of making cheese. You’ll have a chance to buy some local products or a special souvenir as a memento of your visit.

In Amsterdam, embark on a narrated tour of this city of towers and spires. You'll drive past the landmark Dam Square and the Baroque Royal Palace, and make your way to the New Church, a 15th-century, late-Gothic cathedral built on an artificial island. Today, the church is the site of royal coronations and the Central Railway Station, a bustling building with imposing twin towers. Also on your itinerary is Mint Tower - the tower received its name when the national mint was transferred here during the French occupation. You'll also witness the floating flower market and the graceful Weeper's Tower, the site where wives came to say goodbye to their husbands as they embarked on long voyages. A bronze plaque commemorates the English navigator, Henry Hudson, who sailed from here in 1609. Enjoy some time on your own before going back to the ship.
