Explore the beauty and mystery of Egypt’s ancient temples and tombs during this memorable journey to Luxor. Along the way, you will visit the Karnak, Luxor and Hatshepsut Temples, Colossi of Memnon, and the Valley of the Kings.

Note: Due to the amount of walking over uneven terrain and steps at the tombs, this program is not recommended for guests with walking difficulty or those who utilize a wheelchair, walker or scooter.

    Day 1
Upon disembarking the ship in Safaga, you will be met and depart for the 3.5-hour drive to Luxor. Upon arrival a stop will be made for lunch after which you will visit the Karnak Temple. Located about two miles north of the Luxor Temple, but connected to it by an impressive avenue of sphinxes, the Karnak Temple was the most important sanctuary of ancient Egypt, and the heart of the cult of the god Amon. Each pharaoh added his own contribution to the temple over the ensuing 2,000 years.

The Ptolemies erected the massive first pylon you will see. Past the second pylon, which is guarded by a pair of huge statues of Ramses II, you will find the great hypo-style hall, the largest hall of any temple in the world. It spans 50,000 square feet and contains 134 enormous columns. You may notice that some of the columns still have traces of the brilliant paint that originally covered them.

The third pylon leads to the center court, and past the fourth pylon is the 97-foot-high obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut, carved from a solid piece of pink granite. As you pass through successive pylons and courts, you will journey back in time until you reach the oldest part of the temple, built by the pharaohs of the middle kingdom around 2000 B.C.

At the south end of the temple, you will find the sacred lake where ceremonial boats took part in the worship of Amon. Cameras and video cameras are permitted inside the Karnak Temple free of charge.

Next, you will tour the renowned Luxor Temple, which was originally built during the reign of Amenophis the III and then expanded by Ramses II, who added a statue of himself and two obelisks. Today, only one of the statues remains at the Luxor Temple; Mohamed Ali gave the other one to Louis Philippe in 1831 and it is displayed at the Concorde in Paris.

After Alexander the Great rebuilt the sanctuary in the 4th century B.C., the Romans subsequently rebuilt portions of it, and then the Muslims built a mosque in the temple. Cameras and video cameras are permitted inside the Luxor Temple.

Following your visit to the Luxor Temple, you will be transferred to your hotel for check in.

In the evening, you will depart for a spectacular sound and light show at the Karnak Temple. It’s an amazing performance that traces the history of Thebes, including the lives of the pharaohs who built the necropolis. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel for dinner and to spend the evening.

Please note: Dinner will be served at the hotel from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Guests attending the Sound and Light Show will dine following the show.

    Day 2
Following a buffet breakfast, you will cross over the Nile to the West Bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, hidden in the foothills of the Gourma Mountains. More than 60 tombs of pharaohs and noblemen have been excavated in this valley. The kings’ formal names and titles are inscribed in their tombs, along with their images and statues. Between the 18th and 20th dynasties, the kings abandoned the Memphis area and built their tombs in Thebes. During your time here, you will receive a ticket valid for entry to up to three tombs of your choice. Cameras may now be used inside the tombs for a fee and can be paid directly to the guide.

NOTE: there are a series of steps (up to approximately 20 steps per chamber) to go down into the various tombs and the ground surrounding the tombs is uneven and dusty. It is also extremely hot here.

Continuing, enjoy a photo stop at the Hatshepsut Temple, whose unique design features a series of grand terraces extending up a cliff with rows of square granite columns blending in with the mountainside. From here you will proceed for a visit to Medinet Habu. Built by Ramses III, this temple is among the most interesting of the funerary chapels on the West Bank. The reliefs on both sides of the doorway depict battle scenes of Ramses III.

After your visit to Medinet Habu, a photo stop will be made at the Colossi of Memnon. This structure was originally built as a mortuary temple in Thebes and guarded by two gigantic statues on the outer gates. All that remains today are the 75-foot-high, 1,000-ton statues of Amenhotep III. Though damaged by nature and ancient tourists, the statues are still impressive nonetheless. Cameras and video cameras are permitted free of charge.

Enjoy a buffet lunch back at your hotel before you depart for the 3.5-hour drive back to Safaga to re-embark the ship.

Explore two of the world's most historical cities as you step back in time with visits to Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

Your tour begins with a beautiful scenic drive from Haifa into the Judean Hills. As you ascend into these hauntingly stark hills, your coach will be traveling along the same route used for centuries to reach Jerusalem. The capital of Israel, Jerusalem is famous for its timeless beauty and was once considered the center of the world. As you navigate your way through this amazing city, you will pass some of Israel's most notable landmarks, such as the Hebrew University, home to 2005 Nobel Prize winner Professor Emeritus Robert J. Aumann, the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book, the Knesset (Israel's Parliament) and the State Supreme High Court. After an interesting overview of the city, you'll proceed toward the Mount of Olives where time will be allowed to take photos from this highly favorable vantage point that provides an unparalleled and breathtaking panorama of the walled Old City. Near the base of the Mount, you will find the picturesque Gardens of Gethsemane, site of an ancient olive oil press yard that is surrounded by 1,000-year-old trees. Here you can also see the impressive Church of All Nations.

Following an unforgettable morning, you will be treated to a relaxing lunch at a local hotel before it's time to continue your exploration of this fascinating destination with a walking tour of the historical Old City. Entering via the Jaffa Gate, your walk will take you past some of the most sacred sites in religious history. As you make your way along a route that flanks the colorful bazaar, you'll observe the Christian Quarter, which rests beside a part of the famous Via Dolorosa, believed by many to be the route Jesus followed as he carried his cross to Calvary. Amongst the sites you will view is the golden-topped Dome of the Rock. With its stunning blue and gold ceramic tiles, this amazing shrine is considered the third holiest site in Islam. You will also view the famous Western (Wailing) Wall, the holiest site in the Jewish world because it is believed to have been closest to where the Holy Ark once stood. A visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher is also included. Perched on the hill known as Golgotha, the Church marks the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

Rejoining your coach, you'll leave the city behind and make your way through the Judean Hills to the edge of the desert, where the legendary town of Bethlehem is found. Your time here includes a visit to Manger Square and the renowned Church of the Nativity. This extraordinary church is built over a grotto that is believed to be the location of Jesus' birth. Due to time constraints and very long lines to enter the actual grotto, doing so is usually not a possibility. After what will no doubt be a highly memorable visit, you'll re-board your coach and enjoy a leisurely drive back to the ship.

During your voyage, enjoy a rare opportunity to explore the world’s most fascinating destinations with knowledgeable guides to help you discover off-the-beaten-path gems.

On this Overland Program, you’ll disembark the ship for three nights to enjoy a more authentic insider’s view, experiencing firsthand the colorful culture, dramatic landscapes and exquisite landmarks of Agra and Jaipur before rejoining your ship. Visit the white marble Taj Mahal, perhaps the world’s most famous mausoleum and then discover the fascinating history and culture of Jaipur through its architectural gems and rituals.

Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    Day 1 - Thursday, November 25, 2021
Disembark the ship in Mumbai. After completing disembarking procedures, transfer to the airport for a flight to Jaipur. Lunch is served aloft. Baggage will be transported in a separate van to the airport for pre-check-in.

Jaipur is where the enduring charisma of the past blends with the throbbing vitality of today. Where a colorful cast of characters - from painters and potters to artists and antique dealers - present a fascinating picture of a city that is alive to both tradition and change.

Your luggage will be transported in a separate truck to the hotel and placed in your room.

From the airport, proceed directly to visit the Amber Fort, a former seat of the Rajput rulers of Jaipur. Ascend the fortress seated in a jeep, wander around beautiful palaces and visit Shiladevi, the private temple of the royal family, with its exquisite marble carvings and silver door.

Before transferring to your hotel, there’s time to explore Jaipur’s bazaars laden with carpets, gems and jewelry; the specialties being traditional hand-block printed fabric, antique textiles and handicrafts.

Later, check-in to your hotel. Dinner is included at your hotel.

    Day 2 - Friday, November 26, 2021
Join the local residents at dawn as they immerse in a morning Aarti ritual at Govind Dev Ji Temple (also called Krishna Temple). The Temple was built in 1735 by the Maharajah Sawai Pratap Singh II and decorated with many beautiful chandeliers and Indian paintings. The building has the world’s largest, single-span flat roof and was positioned so that the Maharajah would enjoy a direct view of it from his palace.

`Aarti’ is a Sanskrit word for homage or devotion. The aarti or offering of lamps is observed at prescribed hours of the day and night to invoke the gods. It is believed that the gods physically present themselves before devotees at this ceremony. Lamps are revolved before the idol in a clockwise manner along with the chanting of hymns.

This recitation is accompanied by drums, the blowing of a conch-shell and the tolling of temple bells. At the end of the `aarti’, the priest takes a handful of water, which he revolves around the god's idol to pacify `agni' (the fire god), who is pressed into service in the form of a wick lamp. The lamps themselves are charged with this "presence" and thus after the ceremony devotees collect the fumes and smear their faces with its aroma.

Following this unique ritual, you will return to your hotel for breakfast.

Later, checkout and take a drive into old Jaipur stopping by the Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds, a good example of Rajput artistry made of red and pink sand stone, beautifully outlined with white borders and motifs painted with quick lime.

Visit the City Palace which occupies the center of Jaipur, covers one seventh of its area and is surrounded by a high wall. We have access to the private section where the Royal Family lives, while also exploring public areas now converted to museums, displaying the Maharaja’s vast collection of textiles and costumes, an array of armory, miniature paintings and carpets.

Opposite the City Palace is the open-air royal observatory “Jantar Mantar”. Maharaja Jai Singh, the creator of Jaipur loved mathematics and science, sending emissaries to the court of Mirza Beg in Samarkand who had built an observatory in 1425. Spending much of his time studying astronomy, he constructed masonry observatories in the cities of Delhi, Varanasi, Ujjain, Mathura and most impressively the `Jantar Mantar’ in 1728.

An exclusive lunch is arranged in the City Palace Café, after which you will depart Jaipur for Agra on a 4 ½ hour road journey taking in the Rajasthani countryside. Comfort stops are made along the way.

Agra’s story or glory began with the arrival of the Mughals, who made it a great center of learning, art, commerce and culture. With its cosmopolitan bazaars and strategic location on the river Jamuna, Agra was altogether a worthy setting for the focus of an empire. This ‘city of the past’ has impressive World Heritage sites and traditional artisan workshops.

Later in the evening, you will enjoy drinks at the pool terrace while being entertained by a classical Kathak dance performance. This royal courtroom dance arose from the fusion of Hindu and Muslim cultures during the Mughal era. It is characterized by rhythmic footwork, spectacular spins, mime and gestures that are a dramatic representation of themes from Persian poetry synthesized with Hindu mythology.

Following the performance, dinner is included at your hotel.

    Day 3 - Saturday, November 27, 2021
The day begins with tea, coffee, juices and rolls served in the lobby. You will then depart to visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise, as the early rays of the sun cast upon the pearl-white tomb. Enjoy a comprehensive tour of the monument. A lacy white grandeur, perhaps the most perfect architectural monument accomplished, amazingly graceful from any angle, it is the close-up detail which is really astounding.

Return to your hotel for breakfast and later see the World Heritage Agra Fort, credited to Emperor Akbar, India’s great visionary. Astonishing palaces, mosques, and audience halls contained within its massive walls of red sandstone are embellished by an artistic fusion of Hindu and Islamic traditions.

There are options to browse shops such as Kohinoor, jewelers to the Mughal Court, featured in National Geographic. Old emerald necklaces, enamel jewelry, silver, pocket watches in gold and silver, textiles and embroidery form part of their private collection. The Marble Inlay factories steeped in this decorative art culture are also a specialty of Agra.

After lunch, checkout and drive to Delhi where you will spend the night at a hotel near the airport. Dinner is included at your hotel.

    Day 4 - Sunday, November 28, 2021
Checkout after tea, coffee, juices and rolls are served. Transfer to the airport for a flight to Cochin. Breakfast with refreshments are served aloft. On arrival, transfer from airport to pier and re-board your ship. Baggage will be transported in a separate van to the pier.

After a short drive you’ll start your voyage back in history. With your guide you will now start your walk through the Old City via the Dung Gate. You will visit the Western Wall which early European visitors nicknamed the "Wailing Wall" as it where Jews gathered to mourn the destruction of their temple by the Romans in 70AD. Revered as the sole remnant of the 2nd Temple, the massive Western Wall is actually part of the Temple Mount foundation erected by Herod the Great. The Wall is the most sacred Jewish shrine in world.

Coming out of the Jewish Quarter and crossing the Muslim Quarter you will follow part of the route of the Via Dolorosa (The Way of Cross). This ancient cobbled road runs between the supposed location of Jesus' trail by Pontius Pilate and the site of his crucifixion. This amazing 2-day adventure fully showcases the mesmerizing sights and extraordinary heritage of Israel. The memories of your time spent immersing yourself in the cultural environment and sounds of this captivating land will no doubt remain with you long after you have left its borders. Explore the heart of the Holy Land by visiting many of the most hallowed religious areas, including the Old City of Jerusalem, Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, the Dead Sea and Nazareth. This overnight program is conducted with mini busses holding no more than 10 guests and a driver and guide in each vehicle.

    DAY 1
Departing the port of Haifa, you will have a scenic drive to Jerusalem crossing Israel’s low land and up the Judean Mountains. The capital of Israel, Jerusalem is famous for its timeless beauty and was once considered the center of the world. Note: Eat a hearty breakfast on board before departing.

Your visit to Jerusalem will start with a stop at Mount Scopus. From this vantage point high above the city, you will have the opportunity to see the breathtaking view of the entire city spread out in front of you.

Next you will visit the Garden of Gethsemane. According to the gospels, it was here in these olive groves that Jesus and his disciples prayed together on the night before he was arrested. You will also have time to visit the Church of the Agony, also Known as the Church of All Nations, which displays a mosaic depicting the betrayal of Jesus by Judas.

This route will lead you to the Hill of Golgotha and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The church is believed to enshrine the sites of Christ's crucifixion, entombment and resurrection.

The 12th century church is shared by several Christian denominations. Steep steps lead to the second level where a shrine is situated in Calvary or Golgotha. Explore this huge church and experience the unique atmosphere of this place created by pilgrims from all over the world. Note: expect crowds and possible delays here.

Re-join your mini bus at the Jaffa Gate and you will be driven to your lunch venue.

After lunch, you’ll head south through the Judean Hills to the city of Bethlehem, the birth place of Jesus, located on the desert rim. Here you will visit the Church of the Nativity with a local guide. Built by the Roman Emperor Constantine in 339AD, this church is a UNESCO world heritage site and is built above a cave where the birth of Jesus is believed to have taken place. It is an important place of pilgrimage in the Christian faith. After your visit you will be given some time to browse through the various craft shops that can be found in this area.

Back on your mini bus you will drive back to Jerusalem for a panoramic drive through the city. You will pass by some important landmarks including the Hebrew University, the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book, the Knesset (Israel’s Parliament), the State Supreme High Court and the illuminated Old City walls- definitely an unforgettable site.

Check in to your hotel where the remainder of the evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

    DAY 2
After a enjoying an Israeli buffet breakfast at your hotel, check out and proceed across the Judean Desert to one of the wonders off the world, the Dead Sea.

At more than 400m (1280 feet) below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth. The mineral laden water is undrinkable and supports no life. You will visit a leading resort on its shore and experience a classic moment for travelers to the Holy Land: a “Floating Experience”. The salt waters keep even non-swimmers afloat. Situated on the northern part of the Dead Sea, not far from Jericho, this beach offers the ultimate opportunity, to experience floating in the salty water along with using the famous mineral mud that you can find naturally on the sea floor.

After leaving the Dead Sea, drive along the Jordan Valley to your lunch venue located in a restaurant by the Sea of Galilee.

After lunch, visit Yardenit, the baptismal site on the banks of the Jordan River. Here a short visit will be made to the Baptism site and the many souvenir stalls.

Next, enjoy a scenic drive from the Sea of Galilee up to the Lower Galilee Hills. Pass the Village of Canna, where Jesus is believed to have performed his first miracle, changing water into wine at the wedding. Finally, you will reach Nazareth - the childhood home of Jesus Christ. Visit the Church of Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph, before re-joining your mini bus for the drive back to the Haifa port where you will re-embark the ship.

On this full-day excursion, you’ll have the opportunity to explore both Petra, the ancient Nabataean caravan-city ideally situated between the Red and Dead Seas, and Wadi Rum, a nature lover's paradise.

Inhabited since prehistoric times, this area was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. The Nabataeans transformed the forbidding desert into a bustling metropolis with magnificent buildings carved directly into the rose-hued sandstone hills. Camel caravans passed through, loaded with spices, textiles and incense from distant regions, and the city of Petra flourished, until a massive earthquake left the structures of Petra in ruins.

You’ll travel deep within the desert for approximately two hours, to Wadi Musa, the gateway to Petra. Upon arrival, walk to the impressive entrance to Petra, a narrow gorge formed from a deep split in the sandstone rocks. Your first view is of its most elaborate ruin and achievement, the Treasury. Used as a backdrop in the movie, Indian Jones and the Last Crusade, enjoy time to explore the Treasury and the Outer Siq, leading to immense tombs, facades and doorways.

Enjoy a late buffet style lunch at a local hotel. Transfer to yorur off-road vehicles and begin a journey through the starkly beautiful Wadi Rum, with its sheer granite and sandstone cliffs, and uniquely shaped mountains. The stunning scenery, of the towering cliffs, ancient riverbeds and mauve-colored stretches of sand will amaze you, as you drive through the desert, en route to a Bedouin camp. Upon arrival, indulge in a buffet dinner served under Bedouin tents before your return to Aqaba and your ship.

This comprehensive full day tour offers a wonderful opportunity for sightseeing in Jerusalem, one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Boarding your coach at the pier, you'll first enjoy a scenic drive from Haifa into the hauntingly stark Judean Hills, traveling along the same route used for centuries to reach Jerusalem.

From here you will continue on to Mt. Zion, lying to the south of today's city walls. Upon arrival, you will visit the Room of the Last Supper, where according to tradition Jesus' last meal with his disciples and the descent of the Holy Spirit took place. Located on the ground floor is the Tomb of King David, one of the places most visited and venerated by the people of Jewish faith. Next, it's on to the Dormition Abbey, a massive yet serenely beautiful structure topped by a high domed bell tower, a conical dome and corner towers. According to tradition, this Benedictine basilica is built over the place where Mary, the mother of Jesus fell asleep.

Your morning is capped off with a relaxing buffet lunch at a local hotel, and then it's time to begin your walking tour of the old city.

Re-joining your coach, you'll enjoy a drive past the city walls and through the Kidron Valley, viewing the Church of All Nations at the Gardens of Gethsemane, as well as the sacred churches on the Mount of Olives: the Church of Ascension, Pater Noster, Dominus Flevit and the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. A final panoramic view over Jerusalem's enchanting Old City is provided before it's time to travel back to the ship in Haifa.
