OVERVIEW

Behold the awe-inspiring natural beauty of St. Lucia’s western shore while exploring a dormant volcanic crater and meandering through a tranquil botanical wonderland. You will first enjoy panoramic views of Castries and the surrounding tropical landscape from atop the Morne Fortune lookout. Another stop for photos will be made from a vantage point high above Marigot Bay, which forested hills shelter on three sides. As you approach the village of Soufriere, you will gaze out over the Pitons, two soaring spires that UNESCO deemed worthy of a World Heritage site designation. You will also travel through Sulphur Springs Park, a geothermal field within the collapsed crater of a volcano that last erupted in 1776. It is an incredibly eerie and dramatic setting of oozing mud baths and billowing steam. In contrast, the draw of Maranatha Gardens is its serenity. The guide will describe some of the more exotic flora within this paradisical prayer sanctuary.

• Pause at lookouts and enjoy sweeping views of Castries and Marigot Bay.

Need to Know:

Note: Participants must be at least 2 years of age. Passengers should be aware that the road network to Soufriere features undulating, winding, and hilly terrain in certain areas, which may affect those prone to motion sickness. At each tour site, guests who prefer not to join the guided tour are welcome to remain on the bus. Participants should be aware that the tour involves significant walking distances (more than 15 minutes at a time), many steps, and standing for extended periods, which may be strenuous for individuals with walking disabilities. The pathway at the Sulphur Spring Park consists of uneven concrete and asphalt surfaces, including inclines. There are 30 steps to reach the preferred viewing and narration point. However, passengers can also enjoy views of the bubbling pools near the bus parking area. Access to the main floor of the Beacon Restaurant, where refreshments are offered, requires navigating 8 wooden steps with wooden railings. Please consider these factors when deciding to participate in the tour.
