Ocean & Oysters Experience

OVERVIEW

Take in the gorgeous coastal views while cruising the seafood-rich waters off Portland and savor locally harvested oysters at a historical venue in the Old Port. Once you settle in onboard Ruth, a restored picnic-style boat built in nearby Falmouth in 1935, you will cruise along the rocky shore, passing classic lighthouses, historical forts and traditional cottages. Keep an eye out for marine life, especially native harbor, harp, grey and hooded seals. Seabirds such as terns, cormorants and laughing gulls are also abundant. The boutique event space where you will dine on succulent oysters thoughtfully paired with wine or a locally brewed craft beer. Located in a building that was a canning factory more than a century ago, Ballast is wonderfully atmospheric. Be sure to notice the brick-like stones covering the street out front, which were supposedly ballast for ships.
